Veteran’s Day Parade

veterans day parade huntsville alabama

By WAFF 48

Here at the station, we are getting ready for the Huntsville Veterans Day Parade, but that isn’t the only event going on surrounding Veterans Day. Wednesday began Heroes Week with the arrival of wounded warriors in Huntsville. Thirty wounded soldiers, Marines, sailors, and airmen, accompanied by their spouses, arrived in Huntsville for a week-long stay during which they will be honored with several special activities and events.

More Celebrations

Celebrations aren’t happening just in Huntsville this week. Today, Guntersville is holding a Parade of Boats beginning at 1:30 p.m. And in Decatur, a fishing tournament honoring veterans will be held on November 11th.

With everything happening surrounding Veterans Day, it’s important to remember why we celebrate these heroes. This week, we honor and thank all who served in the United States Armed Forces.

Huntsville Veterans Day Parade

Monday morning, we hope you’ll join us in downtown Huntsville for the Veterans Day Parade. Many volunteers have worked hard to make this a successful event, and we thank them for their service. It begins at 11 a.m., so make sure you get there early to get a spot and avoid parade traffic.

If you can’t make it to the parade, we will be bringing you a live stream online, as well as airing the event on WAFF 48. After the parade, it will be available on our website so you can see your favorite band or organization if you miss them the first time.

Hall of Heroes

To honor local veterans, we will have interviews with several of them that will air during the parade. We want to thank these men and women for their service to our country. And if you know a veteran, make sure you thank them!

Event Information

Date: Monday, November 12, 2o12

Can anyone tell me what the plan is if the parade is cancelled because of rain. And also when will they make a determination about cancelling or not.

Jennifer, we spoke to the folks over at WAFF and the parade will go on today rain or shine.
