International films are quickly becoming front and center in the homes and theatres of America.
Beginning with Slumdog Millionaire, the US fan-base for Bollywood films (the main film industry based in India) has grown to the point where popular Bollywood films are now available on Netflix.
For those that are starting to get into the Bollywood film trend, but don’t know where to begin, Huntsville-Madison County Public Library main in downtown Huntsville is a great place to start.
Bollywood Film Festival
Beginning tonight, the Library will host a free weekly Bollywood Film Festival in the Second Floor Events Room.
Every Monday night at 5:30 pm for the next four weeks will feature a popular Bollywood film, as well as a fun activity highlighting a part of Indian culture.
One night will have a demonstration on how to wear a sari, while another will provide delicious traditional Indian food.
This is the fourth year that Library Clerk Victoria Blakely has put together the film series, and was inspired by her love of Indian culture and Bollywood films.
“I had Indian friends that introduced me to Bollywood films, and I fell in love with them“, she states. “I wanted to be able to share these amazing films with the rest of the community.”
