In an unassuming building right on North Parkway, at the end of a re-developed shopping center, sits the H.C. Blake Art & History Center. This amazing place opened in June of this year.
It’s also right next door to the new Dark Side Coffee, so now you have no excuse not to wander over to this northside gem.
Huntsville Revisited
Inside this center, if you are lucky, you can find Huntsville Revisited’s William Hampton. Listening to Mr. Hampton talk about history is worth the time and a visit. And seeing his (ever-growing) archive of historical items, artifacts, and memorabilia is a unique lesson in Huntsville’s heritage.

To me, it was a reminder of how little I knew of this town’s past…
The day I happened to stop in, Mr. Hampton showed me a newly acquired piece of Huntsville History. Some folks had just dropped off a section of chain that was originally around Huntsville’s 1914 Courthouse.

The “art” part of the H.C. Blake Art & History Center can be found in the studios of Carol Foret and Sara Beth Fair. You can see a lot of Ms. Foret’s work at the front of the center, and much of it is for sale.
There are also frequent art classes and workshops, along with gallery events.
