Have you ever salivated over great home ideas on various websites like Houzz or Pinterest? Well, Blossomwood Elementary’s PTAhas decided to give you a little “Pinterest in Person” with it’s annual Holiday Tour of Homes on Sunday, December 9. Five homes will be opened from 1:00 until 5:00, showcasing fantastic home renovation ideas, decorating examples and design expertise.
Covington
The first house is the Covington home at 1000 McClung Avenue. This home was rebuilt on the site of the old Dilworth home. What is interesting about this property is the design for the lot. Located on the corner of California and McClung, the home was designed with the garage on the back with a large side porch and side yard fronting California.
The yard is a great outdoor room with pergola, fireplace, canvas curtained sitting area and brick enclosure wall. Modern amenities like storm shelter (inside a butler’s pantry) and spacious greatroom open to the kitchen will make this property a must-see.

Sun Valley Place
Two homes are featured on Sun Valley Place. This popular “horseshoe” cul-de-sac is home to the Harbarger and Schrimsher homes on tour.
The Harbarger home, at 1604 Sun Valley Place, just completed a renovation of a one level 1960’s rancher into a Southern Living showplace, giving great ideas on how homeowners can add a second story while modifying the main levels to include 9 ft ceilings and staircases.
The Schrimsher home at 1608 Sun Valley Place, is a styling masterpiece of a 1960’s rancher with incorporated cottage elements and sleek lighting. Their extensive renovation has given the home great character.

Locust Circle
The final two homes on tour are on Locust Circle. The Bragg home at 1505 Locust Circle has also undergone extensive recent renovation with a vaulted ceiling in the greatroom, new 2nd story and amazing use of reclaimed wood.
The Hicklen home at 1512 Locust Circle will also be open, displaying great examples of enclosed garage into a greatroom while using the former family room as a breakfast room/keeping room.
Artwork is another big draw to these two homes, as both homeowners are artists. They will be providing shopping opportunities at these homes for any holiday gifts you may need, with proceeds benefiting Blossomwood Elementary’s P.T.A.
