5 Restaurants We Would LOVE to See in Huntsville
Five Daughters Bakery
Bakeries are one thing we feel Huntsville is really lacking, particularly donut shops. If you’ve ever had a Five Daughters Bakery donut, you’ll know exactly what we mean when we say their “100 layer donut” is like nothing you’ve ever had before.
The husband and wife team do in fact have five daughters, and you can find their bakeries in Nashville, Atlanta, Franklin, and Seaside.
Frothy Monkey
Frothy Monkey has it all! In addition to being a coffee shop, they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as wine, local beer, and kombucha. We’ve found most of their locations open early (7ish) and don’t close until 9 or 10 pm, making this the ultimate hangout for those looking to switch it up from the bar scene.
Frothy Monkey operates in Nashville, Chattanooga, and Franklin.
El Barrio
We know Huntsville has a lot of great dining options when it comes to Mexican food, but we promise you there is nothing like El Barrio in Birmingham. This place is slammed when they open at 10:30 on Saturday morning for brunch. Our favorite meal is the Sopa Seca which is a Mexican noodle casserole topped with fried eggs, pico, cheese, avocado, and housemade crema.
We need Mexican food downtown, and we think El Barrio would fit the bill!
Puckett’s
It’s easy for us to envision how cool it would be to see a Puckett’s restaurant in downtown Huntsville occupying a historic building and serving up hearty southern classics. Having a traditional southern restaurant downtown serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week would be amazing for the city.
Another spot for live music is always a good thing, and that’s something else they’re well known for.
Sunflower Cafe
It’s time for Huntsville to have its first 100% vegetarian restaurant. Sunflower Cafe out of Nashville is a cafeteria-style spot serving numerous variations of veggie burgers, indulgent bowls with BBQ tempeh, and wraps like the spicy buffalo tempeh wrap.
Most of their items are priced at $7 leaving room to add one of their delicious homemade sides like pad Thai salad or caramelized apples.
