An Unplugged Night on the Town

Quick, what do a trolley, a ballet dancer, a few drink tickets, an opera singer and a plate of appetizers have in common?
Ok, here are some clues: to see the ballet dancer you have to ride the trolley and to hear the opera singer, you’ll need to get unplugged.
Get Unplugged
The real deal is this: Huntsville Ballet has teamed up with Homegrown Huntsville for An Unplugged Night on the town with the Huntsville Ballet. This event is perfect for date night, or friends hang out… whatever. For one price, you’ll get appetizers and a drink ticket at The Eaves Restaurant at 6 pm (like their famous sangria!)
Then, at 7 pm you’ll be picked up and whisked up the road to The VBC Playhouse. There you’ll get another drink ticket and great seats to see Huntsville Ballet “Unplugged.”
The Show
No tutus here.
And that traditional ballet score? Out the window.
Instead the music ranges from classic to Hip Hop with a completely unexpected fusion of Opera and ballet added to the mix.
I’ve seen some of the rehearsals and it is going to be a really exciting performance!
BONUS! Our Valley Events is giving away a pair of tickets to next weekend’s Unplugged performance! Enter to win below!
You may recognize some of the Opera Fusion voices from:
- Ars Nova

- Gloria Ko
- Ron Roberts
- Rebecca Rogers
- Christy Weber
After Party
After the ballet, the trolley will take you back to your car at The Eaves or can take you downtown. Not sure where to go downtown? Check out this great directory of bars and nightlife hot spots Our Valley Events has created for you.
Watching dance this close up (the Playhouse has a great seating arrangement) is great, it just makes it even more engaging. If you’ve never been to a Huntsville Ballet performance this is the perfect way to try it out!

Monica Yother
Monica Yother claims to be the last person in Huntsville to buy press-type. That’s how long she’s been a graphic designer. Since 1987 she’s been creating all the usual graphic designer-y stuff like logos, brochures, billboards and websites, and won some nice awards. She’s also an illustrator with a studio at Lowe Mill Arts and Entertainment; her work for Huntsville Ballet allows her to showcase her signature style. She writes (a lot!) for clients and her own blog, and holds monthly workshops to help people start blogging. Recently she partnered with her ten-year old daughter to raise money for horse rescue. (Check out myhorsesart.com). She loves her husband, two kids and mini-dachshund. You can visit Monica in the studio at Lowe Mill, (studio 114, first floor which she shares with Love it Out Photography), or online at www.my-designs.net
