If you’re looking to run for something other than Easter eggs, there’s a couple of good events planned for this weekend and there’s also a special Tuesday race.
Saturday Runs
On Saturday, the Scottsboro Half Marathon starts at 8 a.m. at Goosepond Colony, 417 Ed Hembree Drive in Scottsboro. Over 400 runners will start the first-time race and it’s full. Packet pickup is Friday from noon-6 p.m. at Fleet Feet Sports in Huntsville, 2722 Carl T. Jones Drive, and Saturday starting at 6:30 a.m. inside the Goosepond civic center. Also on Saturday, the For Life Ministries 5K will be held at 8 a.m. starting at Blossomwood Elementary School. Contact Leah Parker by email for more information. Packet pickup is Friday from 10 am-7pm at Fleet Feet.
The Celebrating Life 5K and Rembrance Mile is Saturday starting at 8 a.m. and benefits the Hospice of the Valley in Decatur. If you’re looking to get out and enjoy the sunshine (fingers crossed) on Sundays at 1 p.m., volunteers are needed to build a trail for the newest event, Race for Old Glory on July 4. Volunteers meet at the Botanical Garden parking lot. Bring gloves and water, loppers, bush saws (modified weed eaters with metal blades) and leaf racks if you have them.
