Don’t you love live music? Something about being right there where you can see the musicians face to face adds another layer of enjoyment to the experience. Well it just so happens that this weekend there will be so much live music in one place that you may not even believe it. But it’s true.
Round One: Friday Night
And you probably will guess that it’s going to be at Lowe Mill…and again, it’s true. So it starts Friday night at 6:30 with the Concert on the Dock. (admission to Dock concerts is always free).
We had a great time last concert- where else can you see people dancing and kids hoola-hooping right next to each other, while people of ALL ages sit around and listen to music, talk, drink, eat etc…better than a block party ’cause it’s much bigger.
And not only is that going on, but the Nashville based, guitar and cello duo, Richard Smith and Julie Adams return to the Flying Monkey Arts 2nd floor theater in historic Lowe Mill beginning at 7:30pm, (admission to this concert is $10).
Round Two: Saturday
On Saturday, June 30, Vertical House Records will be hosting the first ever HAPPENIN FEST! Ten bands will be performing inside (and outside) of Vertical House Records from 5:00pm – 1:00am.
In case you didn’t know, the store has moved into a larger area in the metal buildings next to Lowe Mill’s Back Dock. For just $8 cover, you can rock out and cookout with them all Saturday evening (or at least as long as they keep the doors open).
They will be debuting new cassettes, giving away free vinyl, and I can’t be certain, but it wouldn’t surprise me if dancing occurred. All are welcome, but of course you must be 21+ to drink.
The Line Up
Saturday Night’s line up on the Back Dock includes:
- NATURAL CHILD
- TIGER HIGH
- The Porcharitas
- Drew Price’s Bermuda Triangle
- Nowhere Squares
- Really Loud Hamburger
- Walker Yancey and Furcoats
- Piss Shivers
- Circuit Pop
- Plains
- Real Frogs
But wait, there’s more! Saturday night in the Flying Monkey Theater, you can catch:
- Zeb Worlund
- Local Indie Folk band
- Ashlyn Maine
- Saints Don’t Grieve
Round 3: Sunday
And yet more!! Sunday at 7pm, you can get your JAZZ on.. join Huntsville local musicians for a night of jazz unlike any other! With funky, upbeat tunes that will make you want to move your feet, you’re sure to have a blast with Rolling Jazz Review. (Cover $5).
With that much music in three days, you’ll have to wear earplugs the rest of the week just to rest your ears!
