Today is National Trails Day! Now I know that this may not be a holiday that you’ve had marked on your calendar or even one that you knew existed, but I bet now that you know it’s arrived you’re ready to get out and celebrate, right?
Go…Where??
But where to go? I’d be willing to bet few of you can name (or locate) the majority of the nature trials in the area. But now, thanks to Our Valley Events you don’t have to! We’ve created a handy local guide to the parks, trails and greenways that you can access by clicking here.
Madison County is home to many amazing greenways perfect for running like:
- Aldridge Creek
- Big Cove Creek
- Flint River
To name a few. Not to mention the many parks that are great for an afternoon outside with the kids like:
- Kids Space
- Brahan Spring Park
- Kids Kingdom Park
- Rainbow Mountain Trails
- Wildflower Trail
- Madison County Nature Trail
So whatever your outdoor preference, there’s something for everyone. Click here to see the complete directory of parks, greenways, and nature trails.
Why Get Out?
Trails give you the opportunity to:
- Get your heart pumping
- Lungs expanding
- Muscles working at various levels of difficulty
And all this improves your physical and mental well-being.
Activities
Ready to get out, but not quite sure what to do? Here are some suggestions from the National Hiking Society:
- hiking
- dog walking
- bike riding
- trail maintenance

This Saturday head outside and get some fresh air! We’ve done the hard work for you. All you have to do is choose which park or nature trial you want to go to. Here’s the link in case you missed it.
