Paris in the Rocket City

In roughly 24 hours a taste of Paris will come to the Rocket City, courtesy of the Women’s Guild. Now in its 42nd year, this Thursday January 26, the Wine Tasting and Silent Auction returns to the Huntsville Museum of Art. The theme is ‘Grape Expectations: A French Connection’ and will showcase about 50 French wines.

“There’s Nothing to Do in Huntsville!”

I’m one of those rare, native folks that calls the Rocket City my hometown. Spending my formative years in Huntsville, Alabama there was an often-heard battle cry amongst my teenaged peers: “There’s nothing to do in Huntsville!” This was usually followed with a whiny, “It’s so boring here. I can’t wait to leave.” And I did. In 2010, I returned to find more than a few changes had taken place during the decade I was absent from the Tennessee Valley….
