If you have spent more than five minutes with me, you know about my passion for animals and art. One event that combines both of these things is Art 4 Paws. It’s put on by the Madison Arts Council (MAC) on April 6th. Last year was its inaugural year, and a lot of great rescues and vendors came out despite the unseasonably cool weather.
This year, MAC is planning another great event with even more vendors and rescue organizations. It’s going to be a family-friendly art festival where you can bring even your furriest family member. And if you don’t have one, you can adopt one there!
Finding Forever Homes
This is my favorite part of Art 4 Paws. I’ve made it my personal goal to help as many pets be adopted to loving ‘furever’ homes as possible. If you’re a dog lover or a cat lover, we have you covered!
Here’s a look at the organizations that will be bringing pets looking for homes:
- Friends of Rescue
- Petlinker
- Alabama Boston Terrier Rescue
- MARF
- Decatur Animal Services
- Peace Love and Animals
- Rescue a Bull
- Southern Skies Labrador Rescue
AND more organizations are signing up to participate in the event every day! To learn more about these organizations above, click on their name.
Have pet, need supplies!
And once you’ve adopted your furry friend, you can buy them handmade pet supplies and accessories from local artists, have your pet’s picture made or painted, or get behavior lessons. If you’ve met my unruly boxer mix, you know I need to get in on that booth. This is a great place to check out local artists and support them by buying some unique, handmade items. Whether you’re looking for a purse, picture frame, or custom art, it’ll be at Art 4 Paws. You can check out the vendors on the Madison Arts Council website.
The event covers much of the afternoon, so we know you’ll need a bite to eat. Iceworks Shaved Ice will have a booth, and two of the area’s coolest food trucks will be there. Food Fighters Bustaurant and Sugar Belle will roll up with treats for humans and animals.
Join In the Art 4 Paws Furry Fun
If you’re an artist or rescue organization, and you’re saying to yourself, “Man, I wish I could be a part of this,” never fear! Registration is open through March 31st. Registration is free for rescue organizations, and it starts at $35 for vendors. There’s a discount for MAC members, so make sure you indicate if you have joined when you sign up.
And I’ll make it easy for you!
- Click here to become a MAC Member (discount, remember!)
- Click here to register to be an Art 4 Paws Vendor
This event definitely has something for everyone. Children, parents, singles, art lovers, pet lovers, and 4-legged creatures will find something to love at Art 4 Paws. And hopefully we’ll be able to find loving homes for some very deserving (and adorable) animals.
