What makes a place “so Huntsville”?
It can be a matter of taste or opinion, but when you really think about the Huntsville experience, what restaurants come to mind?
We thought of 6 places to eat that are SO VERY Huntsville. Tell us who you would add to the list.
Bandito Burrito
A place so ingrained in Huntsville’s culture that the city can almost be divided into the Bandito folks and the never-tried-its. If you’re a never-tried-it, you are missing out.
Almost as iconic as Bandito is owner Oscar whose face adorns the logo of the new Bandito off of Hwy 72 in Madison.
G’s Country Kitchen
A lunch time staple for anyone who loves good home cooking and soul food. There are only ridiculously happy people who leave G’s, even though they are also uncomfortably full.
Humphrey’s
Music venues have come and gone over the years, but even the relatively young Humphrey’s has made a lasting impression with a continuous roster of live bands and friendly wait-staff. Throw in a back alley patio and it’s arguably Downtown Huntsville’s best watering hole.
Big Ed’s Pizzeria
It was a toss up (pun intended) between Big Ed’s and Terry’s Pizza for thinking of pizza that is SO VERY Huntsville, but we went with Big Ed’s because you can still sit down and order a big pie, drink some beers, and realize that 3 hours have somehow passed you by.
Rosie’s
A beloved locally owned “chain” that has expanded the concept to include full service and fast food with pretty darn good salsa. And, it’s closed on Sundays.
Oh, and anyone who’s anyone loves a good Mambo Taxi.
Greenbrier BBQ
There’s nothing more Huntsville than driving way out into the country for some great barbeque. Because, even though we are surrounded by great barbeque places close to home, we indulge in the Huntsville experience of trekking out the Greenbrier for those hush-puppies and white sauce that are so beloved.
