Well, 2015 is almost a month old, so how are the New Year’s Resolutions to be healthier this year going?
Yep, we thought so. You need a little motivation to get up and running, right?
Here are 15 events in ’15 to get you kickstarted. There’s 13 runs and we threw in a couple fun run/bike duathlons just for a change of pace. All of the races and more are listed on the Fleet Feet calendar.
1. McKay Hollow Madness 25K Trail Run
The poster for this Huntsville Track Club event last year was a picture of a fractured hand. Yep, it’s that tough.

2. Bridge Street Town Centre Half Marathon
This one started last year and includes a path through the Bridge Street Town Centre shopping area. Shopping and running? A win/win ladies?

3. Heel and Crank Duathlon
This Team Rocket Tri duathlon with a 3 mile run, 16-mile bike and 3-mile run through historic Mooresville. It also benefits the ALS Association. For thrill seekers: Do both the Heel and Crank and Bridge Street Half back-to-back to earn a special mug noting your 35.1-mile victory.

4. Mercedes-Benz Cotton Row Run
The Mercedes-Benz Cotton Row Run 10K, 5K, 1-mile fun run/walk, along with the Liz Hurley Run, is the must-do race of the season. It also has a moving tribute to our vets and a hill you won’t forget on Memorial Day.

5. Summer Cross Country Runs
1, 2, and 3 Miles – a summer tradition for many years at the Huntsville Cross Country Running Park every Tuesday night in John Hunt Park for a small charge.

6. Fleet Feet Sports Summer 3-5 Mile Fun Runs
Another summer tradition on Thursdays and they’re free.

7. Eurocross 5K & 8K
For those folks who love or would like to do the adventure Warrior, Spartan-type runs, here’s one on the University of Alabama in Huntsville campus. It’s a 1K loop with hay bales, woods and a wicked creek you pass through (and sink into) multiple times.

8. Monte Sano 10K and 5K Road Races & Kids Fun Run
A long-time race tradition in Huntsville held up in the scenic Monte Sano State Park.

9. Huntsville Hospital Autumn Chase 1 Mile Run
Another long-time Huntsville tradition for the kids, their parents and teachers.

10. Racin’ the Station Duathlon
In the Rocket City, should there be any surprise there’s a duathlon (run 1.95 miles/bike 14.3 miles/run 1.95 miles) where athletes try to beat the International Space Station during one orbit of the earth?

11. Liz Hurley Ribbon Run
This 5K has become a huge race that recognizes all those who have fought the battle against breast cancer. It’s great for runners and walkers.

12. Spooktacular 5K and Monster Mile
One of the more fun races of the year (wish they were all this fun), celebrating the costumes as much as the fast times.

How do you feel less guilty about eating all that turkey and dressing? Run this fun 5K the morning of Turkey Day that benefits Crisis Services.

14. Galaxy of Lights Fun Run
Tony Osani has always been the Pizza Man (as owner of several Dominoes), but now he delivers early Christmas cheer with the Galaxy of Lights 5K and Fun Run on two different nights.

15. Rocket City Marathon
